Privacy Policy

Effective October 8, 2026 · Applies to the Memoyad app for Android and the memoyad.com website

The short version: Memoyad analyzes your media with AI models that run on your phone. Your media, what the app learns about them, and your searches stay on your device. The app has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we have no servers that receive your media.

Information about you reaches us only when you choose to send it: a diagnostics report, an email, the contact form, or the beta waitlist. We never sell it.

1. Who we are

Memoyad is made by Mehran Iranpour, an independent developer based in Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"). Mehran Iranpour is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

Privacy Officer (the person in charge of the protection of personal information):
Mehran Iranpour
privacy@memoyad.com

Write to the Privacy Officer with any question, request or complaint about your personal information.

2. What happens on your device

With your permission, Memoyad reads the images in your media library, analyzes them with on-device AI models, and stores a private search index (information about what each item shows, including any text in it) in the app's private storage on your phone. Your searches are run against that index on your phone.

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. It is not included in Android cloud backups: Memoyad opts out of Google cloud backup, so the index is not copied to your Google account. If you move to a new phone with Android's device-to-device transfer, the index may be copied directly to the new phone. The app does not make decisions about you; the AI only helps you find your own media.

3. Information that leaves your device, and when

AI model download The first time you use Memoyad, it downloads its AI model files (about 3.8 GB) from Hugging Face, a public model-hosting service. The request contains no information about you or your media, but like any download it reveals your device's IP address to the host, which handles it under Hugging Face's Privacy Policy. We do not receive it.
Diagnostics reports (optional) If you tap Settings > Send Diagnostics, or accept the offer to send a report after a crash, Memoyad creates a text report and hands it to the app you pick (for example, your email app), which sends it to us. The report contains your device model and Android version, the app's settings, counts and statistics about your library and its analysis, and the app's recent activity log, which may include text you searched for. It does not contain your media or what the app has stored about individual items. Nothing is sent unless you send it, and you can read the whole report first under Settings > View Diagnostics.
Emails and the contact form If you email us or use the contact form on memoyad.com, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and your message. Contact-form messages reach us through Formspree, a form-handling service.
Beta waitlist If you join the waitlist on memoyad.com, we receive the email address you enter, through Formspree.
Google Play Google Play gives us aggregated statistics (for example, install counts) and crash and performance reports (for example, crash stack traces, device model and Android version), under your Google Play and Android settings. These do not include your media or your searches. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Visiting memoyad.com The website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub logs visitors' IP addresses for security purposes, under the GitHub Privacy Statement. The website itself uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising.

4. How we use it, and why we are allowed to

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not combine it with other information to profile you.

5. Who else handles it

We share personal information only with the service providers that handle it for us, and only as needed for the purposes above:

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order, or to protect the safety of any person. If the Memoyad app is ever sold, transferred or merged into a company, personal information may pass to the new owner, who must keep protecting it under this policy.

6. Where it is stored

We are in Canada, and several of our service providers store data in the United States or other countries. While there, your information is subject to the laws of those countries and may be accessible to their courts, law enforcement and national security authorities. Where the law requires it (for example, for people in the European Union or United Kingdom), these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses used by our providers.

7. How long we keep it

8. How we protect it

Everything Memoyad keeps on your phone stays in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. Information you send us travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). The accounts where we receive it are limited to the people who need them and are protected with strong authentication, including two-factor authentication. We delete information when the retention periods above end. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security; if a breach ever affects your information, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to receive a copy of it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw your consent at any time (this does not affect what we did before you withdrew it). To use any of these rights, write to the Privacy Officer at privacy@memoyad.com. We will answer within 30 days, and we may ask you to confirm your identity first. It is free.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to a privacy regulator:

11. Your choices and deleting your data

Step-by-step instructions are on the Delete your data page.

12. Children

Memoyad and memoyad.com are intended for adults and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly receive personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact the Privacy Officer and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the effective date above. For significant changes, we will also say so in the app's release notes, and we will ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
